Identify the cave and version first
The phrase cave exit does not identify a unique location across every version of Underkeep. The developer confirms differences between the demo and full-game levels. A reliable route therefore needs to match the cave, surrounding layout and build you are actually playing.
Start by recording those details before comparing directions. A screenshot of the map can show the problem more clearly than a description that only says you are stuck underground. Keep a navigation problem separate from a blocked passage or a mechanism that has not yet been resolved.
Resolve the documented rubble blocker
Several players in the demo mushroom discussion describe the same rubble interaction. Keep the pickaxe carried by the party, return to the rock pile and left-click it. Their reports support that specific procedure without requiring an invented spell, equipment slot or movement sequence.
After clearing the obstruction, check what area has become accessible. Do not label it the exit merely because the party can now enter it. The supported outcome is an opened passage, while the destination must be established from the actual surrounding map.
Retrace explored routes with the automap
The official feature list includes an automap with custom marks. Use it to compare your current position with routes you already recognize from the same run. Mark unfinished branches so they do not become confused with the path you are trying to retrace.
If you leave a route unresolved, note the reason for returning. A reminder about rubble, a door or a mechanism makes the later check more focused. This is a practical use of the confirmed map tools, not a claim that every cave has the same layout or exit tile.
Describe the remaining obstacle precisely
If the pickaxe check does not address your situation, describe what actually prevents movement. Include whether you are looking at rubble, a door, a mechanism or a route that simply looks unfamiliar. This gives another player a clear problem to compare with the same area and version.
Use the official community for a location-specific question and include the map when possible. Avoid importing the historical mushroom-cave instructions into a different release-game tunnel. This page stays focused on verified navigation and blocker checks until an exact route for the named location can be confirmed.
