Choose demo or full-game instructions first
Underkeep's demo is a separate playable slice, not simply an early save inside the release version. The developer confirms differences in levels, including the forest and mushroom encounter placement. A guide can be accurate for the demo while sending a release-game player toward the wrong location.
Check the version label before comparing screenshots, directions or class recommendations. Historical demo material is especially useful for its mushroom quest and repeated interaction problems. Release-game material is the right starting point for the larger class roster, current party planning and the full adventure's exploration systems.
Learn what each party member contributes
You control four adventurers whose abilities and equipment work together. The official description emphasizes synergy, so choosing a familiar class name is only part of building a useful team. Start by identifying who occupies the frontline, who supplies damage and who supports the group.
The party guide and class guide answer different questions. Party planning explains how a group fits together, while the class page helps compare roles before filling the available slots. Reading them in that order keeps a recommendation about one class from being mistaken for a complete plan for the whole party.
Understand recovery before spending every resource
The documented recovery loop links resting, food and consumables. A developer explanation identifies rest and consumables as mana-recovery routes and says passive mana regeneration was not part of the system being described. This makes supply management relevant to the next encounter, rather than something to consider only when the party is already exhausted.
Use the mana-recovery page when the immediate problem is an empty caster resource. Use the food page when the question is how resting draws on supplies or where the documented supply sources come from. Keeping those questions separate helps explain both the recovery action and the resource that supports it.
Use the map as a record of unfinished exploration
Underkeep includes an automap with custom markers, and a later developer update adds minimap notes. These tools give you a way to record suspicious walls, unresolved doors and places worth revisiting. A map becomes more useful when it explains why you left a location unfinished, rather than merely showing that you walked through it.
The map guide covers those navigation tools, while the puzzle and secrets guides explain the kinds of environmental problems described by the developer. Choose the page that matches your question before looking for a detailed solution. A general map feature does not establish a named puzzle's input sequence, and a secret's existence does not provide its exact tile.
Use focused help for the mushroom demo
The demo walkthrough and mushroom-location checklist are intended to work together. The walkthrough organizes the quest and its repeated blockers, while the mushroom page explains the supported outdoor and underground split. This is more useful than repeating a long general introduction every time a single pickup is missing.
For the historical demo, inspect breakable crates and the rubble passage when progress stops. The corroborated rubble interaction is to carry the pickaxe and left-click the rock pile. If the problem is finding your way back rather than removing an obstruction, use the cave-exit troubleshooting page and the automap to separate those issues.
Keep controller and save questions out of route guesswork
Controller support differs between the full game's advertised support and the separate demo's partial-support listing. The developer FAQ also documents a specific naming procedure through Steam Big Picture using Y in the hero-name menu. That is a control question with a direct answer, not a reason to restart a quest or copy an unrelated button layout.
Save compatibility has its own equally direct answer: demo saves do not transfer to the full game. The September demo update also broke older demo saves, which is a different boundary from the demo-to-release transition. Read the compatibility page before moving files or assuming Steam Cloud changes either of those developer-confirmed limitations.
Check the official game and demo listings
The full game launched for Windows PC on November 5, 2026 through Steam and GOG. The free demo has its own Steam page, making the download guide a useful way to distinguish the two products. A trailer, playthrough or search result is not itself an installation source.
Use the release-date page to distinguish the released PC version from planned console ports. Use the price page for the dated US Steam quote and the explanation of regional pricing. Those pages address availability and purchase information without turning an old countdown or a different currency into a current local checkout promise.
Choose the next page from your current blocker
If you are already in a run, the best reading order is the one that addresses what is stopping you now. An empty mana pool calls for recovery guidance, a missing quest pickup calls for the mushroom checklist, and a custom-name field calls for the controller procedure. Those pages answer different questions, so working through every topic before returning to play is not necessary.
If you are preparing a new full-game party, begin with the role-based class comparison and the suggested starting formation. If you are deciding whether to install or buy, begin with the official demo and dated price information instead. This gives each guide a practical place in the library without pretending that the same long sequence of articles is required for every player.
Keep the product and build in mind whenever you move between topics. A correct answer about a historical demo menu does not automatically settle a question about a release-game encounter, even if both are discussed on this site. Using the version label alongside the topic is the quickest way to keep a useful answer connected to the game you are actually playing.
Read recommendations as decisions, not guarantees
Some questions have an explicit developer answer, while others involve choosing between supported approaches. A recommended starting party can explain a balanced set of roles without proving that every other party is weaker. Similarly, a Blood Mage guide can explain its documented resource system without claiming an untested level-by-level optimum.
For a practical reading order, begin with version and controls, then move to party roles, recovery and navigation. After those foundations, open the specific quest, class or exploration article that matches your current blocker. That keeps your attention on the answer you need and avoids treating every guide as a mandatory step before you can enjoy the game.
